HOW
A BILL BECOMES A LAW
First a bill is introduced by a member of the house or senate.
It is referred to a committee by the house speaker or the senate president.
The committee considers the bill, then they report the bill to members of the house or senate.
It is read a first time, then again. It is read a third time, members debate and then vote on the bill.
If passed the bill is sent to the second chamber where the process repeats.
With the speaker or the president, then the committee and action by the house or senate. If passed the bill is signed into law or vetoed by the governor.
Legislature may vote to override the veto, and the bill becomes law without the governors approval.
